Tablet Manufacturing Defects & the Importance of the Blending Process – February 5th, 2025 Webinar:

Common tablet defects and the importance of blending with Robert Sedlock of Natoli Scientific.

Are you ready to take a deep dive into the understanding of powder blending and segregation – from the basic mechanisms and approaches to the cutting-edge future of particle simulations and optimization techniques? The experts from Natoli Scientific, MercuryLab, and SERVOLiFT have the insights you’re looking for…

This was the first webinar in a series moderated by Natoli Scientific that provides a foundational understanding of Powder Micromeritics and USP<1062> Compaction Profiling. The root cause of many manufacturing tableting defects stem from the inconsistencies of the raw materials and this webinar describes the steps on how to identify these issues before it is too late, and the batch is ruined.

Tablet Manufacturing Defects & the Importance of the Blending Process – February 5th, 2025 Webinar:

Blending and Simulation: A Beginners Guide with Anthony Thornton of MercuryLab.

This seminar dives into the principles of blending and segregation in granular materials and focuses on the food and pharmaceutical industries. Based on Anthony’s MercuryLab experience, this session addresses the challenges of achieving uniformity in the industrial process.

Key discussion topics include:

  • Introduction to Blending and Segregation
  • Mechanisms of Segregation
  • Experimental Approaches to Studying Blending and Segregation
  • Simulation Techniques for Blending and Segregation
  • Industrial Applications and Case Studies

Through foundational knowledge, experimental approaches, and simulation techniques, this seminar provides a comprehensive guide for optimizing mixing systems, minimizing segregation, and enhancing efficiency in practical applications.

Fundamentals of Powder Blending Simulations:
with Alan Hyams of SERVOLiFT and Luca Orefice of MercuryLab.

Predicting the blending quality is almost impossible without extensive testing, while the process’s scale and the materials’ high value make extensive experimentation undesirable. Virtual prototypes are thus a valuable asset in providing trends and insights for informed experimentation, reducing the number of trials necessary to design a process around a certain formulation.

Our study will explore two important aspects of blending operations: scale-up and shell design transferability. We will illustrate how to leverage numerical models to properly tailor the Design of Experiments by providing an informed choice of the process parameters range to test.
