Training in Action at Natoli Scientific

This week’s training sessions at Natoli Scientific brought together expertise, innovation, and hands-on learning.

Highlights From the Sessions

  • Powder Properties & Defect Prevention: Robert Sedlock emphasized the importance of characterizing raw materials to reduce common tablet defects like flow issues, segregation, capping, picking, and sticking.
  • Tablet Press Demonstrations: Robert and Grant Sedlock showcased the RD10a single station and RD30 rotary tablet press with AIM Data Acquisition, highlighting USP <1062> studies on Tablet ability, Compressibility, Compatibility, and Strain Rate Speed.
  • Calibration & Instrumentation: John Sturgis, Engineering Manager, guided attendees through proper calibration techniques and best practices for ensuring instrumentation accuracy.
  • Direct Compaction Simulation: Breakout sessions introduced Heckel plotsdisplacement profiles, and compression event simulations. Dr. Rahul Haware presented “A World of Compaction Simulation: Gateway to Understand Materials and Formulations,” emphasizing material deformation characterization as key to scalable, robust formulations.
  • Dissolution & HPLC Basics: Principal Scientist Kevin Edwards explained the fundamentals of tablet dissolution and HPLC systems.
  • Micromeritics Hands-On: Kevin Edwards and Kerry Cruz demonstrated particle size distribution, density, flowability, and moisture content measurements in an interactive lab.
